* Always follow your stylist’s instructions.
* Always keep hair clean. Just like human hair extensions can get tangled and “dread-locked”.
* Brush your hair in a downward motion to keep the hair smooth.
* Brush out tangles before shampooing.
* Use a recommended shampoo, conditioner, and leave-in conditioner, that are formulated to support extension maintenance. Sulfates can break down the bonds.
* Wash and style your hair as you always have, but be careful not to touch the bonds with curling irons or flatirons. High heat will weaken the bond.
* Brush your hair gently with a special brush twice daily. If the hair starts knotting or dreading, it will put undue stress upon your own hair and cause breakage.
* If swimming always wear a cap and keep your head above water. Chlorine can cause extensions to become tangled and matted, and can break down the bond.
* If you are in need of chemical services (color, hair-straightening) or blowouts come back to the salon. A different stylist may not understand the bonding of extensions, and may cause these bonds to break down even by brushing your hair the wrong way.
* Always dry bonds after washing. Never go to bed with wet bonds.
* Go into the salon for maintenance every 4 weeks.
* Use a brush recommended by your stylist for extensions.
* Put your hair in a ponytail when you exercise or in windy conditions.
* Consider getting an ionic hair dryer, rather than a traditional one.
* Do not wash hair for 48 hours after extensions are put in.
